About Us
UROKO was founded in 2019 by husband-and-wife team Takehiro and Kayo Asazu, owners of Komé Sushi Kitchen and Sa-Tén Coffee & Eats, together with longtime friend Masazumi Saio, a Uchi alum. Our vision was to bring premium quality sushi to the community through a fast-casual temaki (hand roll) concept — combining top-tier ingredients with an approachable, fun dining style.
Not long after opening, we expanded into the space next door and named it TONARI — meaning “next door” in Japanese. TONARI has become a place where we share more than just sushi: we host affordable yet authentic omakase dinners, hands-on sushi-making classes, and a variety of Japanese cultural workshops and experiences.
At UROKO and TONARI, our mission is to connect our community with the richness of Japanese culture — through the art of sushi, the joy of shared meals, and immersive experiences that celebrate our roots.
